Down

WP Weekly Photo Challenge

October 2011. Philippines. As the plane gradually moves up to the air to take me to my home province, I looked down and saw this entire picture of the huge metropolis. From atop, I saw chains of buildings that indicate progress and booming businesses. But, down the other side of the road, I saw the opposite.

Then, I felt down.

So what is your home province? :)) I wanna know where this was taken, am I right if I say this is in CDO? πŸ™‚

  2. yuuki says:

literally down because the plane touched the ground or down because of the situation?

  3. sionee says:

but it is still a nice view to look at when you’re up there.. πŸ™‚

  4. John says:

Sometimes it’s difficult not to mind the opposite..but i think it’s more like a bugger if you let the feeling of something close to euphoria be ruined by this opposite thingie you mentioned about.

  5. Reality as it is, which has been for centuries, status quo and life in Manila!

    • enzo says:

Sadly…but partly, those who are there are partly to be blamed for it. There are wider spaces in the provinces. Why do they have to force themselves into a place where they can hardly breathe because of too little space.

  6. Stacyy says:

Very nice view! Where is this?

  7. Violy says:

Is this one in Manila? I think that’s what you’re describing, a part of Manila is so pretty and the other side you will see those squatters… Really disappointing..

    • enzo says:

Yup, Violy. Just too disheartening to note that in the news, we see and hear about politicians or those who are in the post wasting people’s money (millions…) for their own benefit. And the marginalized people in the society remains the same, yesterday, today and tomorrow.

  8. Bien Nonoy says:

the picture alone shows the disparity between rich and poor.

  9. I hope you’re feeling much better now.

  10. cool aerial shot from the plane. i have always thought before that camera don’t take good pics. but recently i was amazed at how pics turn out! yours is an example.

  11. I thought it’s Surigao. It was my first impression and you didn’t mentioned in your post. Sa comments ko na nabasa taga Agusan di ay ka Dong. πŸ™‚ Bisaya pud ka no?

    • enzo says:

PROUD BISDAK…kaayo…My parents are both from Cebu and the winds brought them to Agusan Sur, where I was formed, born, raised, grew up, and learned to spread my wings and fly away…lol…

taga asa d i ka Jenny?

  12. Cool. I love looking the houses while Im on the plane. So tiny and the people looks like ants. πŸ™‚

  13. Ma. Novie Godmalin says:

Its very crowded. Shame, it reached to the point that it became over populated. Nice photo! Well done!

    • enzo says:

Yeah…it became overpopulated while there are a lot of vacant spaces in the provinces waiting for inhabitants…

      • Ma. Novie Godmalin says:

Well, They think when they go to Manila they will find fortune there. Some found their fortune some dont. I dont think provinces want to be overpopulated too?

  14. life- full of ups and downs πŸ™‚ 😦

  15. Nice view from the top. Who says no one ever looks down?

  16. tumandok says:

In God’s term, all men are created equal. In man’s way, it’s survival of the fittest. More so with business outlook. You’ve accept the disheartening facts and the reality. And also to remember always that in everything there’s an opposition. A typical example, why your fingers are not with the same length! Gets? But the real thing is what we have done to the least of our brethren and we’ve done it too to our Lord!

  17. I can understand what you mean..
    progress comes with a sacrifice.
we just have to be resilient! πŸ™‚

I have several aerial shots of Manila while the plane approaches NAIA.
I never post it though, I dont feel like Ive given it a good enough shot.
I like the details in this photo, the comparison is impossible not to see.

  18. markpogi says:

That’s a good vantage point you got to take the picture. I hope the other side of the road though gets noticed as well.

  19. everything has its good and bad sides… that’s what we call balance.. and life πŸ™‚
